Dog Training

The Ulster County SPCA training team is committed to helping you and your dog have a healthy, lifelong relationship. We do this through positive reinforcement training methods, led by our Head Trainer Regina Till.

We offer Puppy Training and Adult Dog Training classes; Puppy classes are currently offered only to dogs that have been adopted from the UCSPCA. Adult Dog classes are offered to the general public.

Puppy Training Currently only available to dogs adopted from UCSPCA Six week session. First 3 classes included with adoption fee. $10 per class thereafter.

Puppy Classes

We now offer training classes for puppies (6 months and under) adopted from the UCSPCA.

Here, your puppy will have supervised play time with other puppies to learn appropriate play skills, will be handled by other people to become better socialized, and will learn all the basics (sit, down, come, wait at the door, and walk politely on leash).

This program is offered throughout a 6 week time period.  The first three classes are included in the adoption fee.

Public Puppy Socialization

$10 per hour socialization session. Before attending the class you need to provide proof of Rabies, Distemper and Bordatella Vaccinations.

Adult Dog Classes

Whether your dog is just reaching adulthood or a full fledged senior, these classes will benefit both of you. Learn effective ways to get your dog to do what you ask while building a trusting and respectful relationship.
Learn how to give your dog the mental and physical exercise he/she needs, teach your dog not to jump on you, pay attention when asked, teach him how to sit, lay down, stay, come, walk on leash politely, and wait at doors.
